Description

The aim of this summer school is to introduce Ph.D. students and post-docs to current topics and methodological approaches in applied microeconomics. The instructors, Imran Rasul and Stephen Ryan, are leading experts in these fields.

In addition to attending lectures, participants will have the opportunity to discuss their research ideas with the instructors and their peers in poster sessions and individual meetings. The lectures will be complemented by sessions on research data management organized by the LMU-ifo Economics and Business Data Center.

The Summer School is organized as a cooperation between the EBE Program and the CRC.

How to apply

Applicants must be either Ph.D. Students or early-stage post-docs and should indicate whether they would like to present a poster. There is no participation fee. Hotel reservations will be made by the organizers of the summer school. Members of the CRC may apply for funding through the CRC.

Please apply for the summer school by sending an email to mgse-phd@econ.lmu.de. Interested participants, who are not affiliated to the EBE Program, are required to attach a short (1 page) motivational statement to their application.

Econometrics of Panel Data and Network Analysis

Description

The aim of this summer school is to teach PhD students and Post-Docs current techniques in panel data analysis and network analysis. The instructors, Jeffery Wooldridge and Steven Durlauf, are leading experts in these fields. In addition to attending lectures, participants will have the opportunity to discuss their research ideas with the instructors and their peers via presentations, posters, and individual meetings. The econometrics instruction will be complemented by separate sessions on data management organized by Joachim Winter.

Instructors: Prof. Steven Durlauf (SD, University of Wisconsin, Madison) and Prof. Jeff Wooldridge (JW, Michigan State University, East Lansing)
The Module on Research Data Management will be organized by Prof. Joachim Winter (LMU Munich).
The local organizers are Prof. Bernd Fitzenberger (BF) and Prof. Raji Jayaraman (RJ).
Office hours can also be used by participants to obtain individual feedback on research ideas.
