The Credibility Tax: Deception and the Erosion of Trust
New behavioral economics research by CRC-member Pinocchio (Project XY) shows that lying carries a lasting “credibility tax,” severely discounting a person’s future truthful statements. The immediate reward for deception rarely outweighs the long-term cost of a damaged reputation.
